My Moo business cards arrived!!!!! They look absolutely amazing; fantastic quality. I’m really happy with the way the DA logo came out too- it looks fabulous. All of it looks fabulous! I got 50 business cards for about 20$, with free shipping (yay!). It’s pretty expensive, but the quality you get is pretty astounding. Thanks Moo, I’m excited to hand these out!

Bit Sick

Had a bit of a crummy week, boo. Quite sick and snuffly. I was all set for the Sun Run last Sunday, but we got down to the race and I just figured it would be the better part of valour if I didn’t test my health by running and took a nap instead. Dropped off my Dad and Jeff, my running partner, and headed on over to my grandmother’s for a nap. She set me up in bed with a blanket, a dog, and some Benalyn. Grandmothers are the loveliest people, I some day hope to have half the class mine does, and to be half as wonderful a grandmother to my grandchildren as she is to me.

So, not much arting this week that wasn’t weird fever-induced sketchbook doodles. My humble apologies. Please accept, instead, this adorable picture of Tobi in the laundry closet.

Semester's Over

Wow! What an intense semester this was. I planned well in advance for my Grad Project, but it still managed to completely surprise me in how much work I ended up putting into it, especially since I had to bump it up a week in scheduling But it was in and out of the printer’s on time just as planned- no hiccups or bumps there, whoopie!

Here’s a picture I took of it, though it’s a bit hard to tell the scale without someone standing near it. It’s 24x36! The biggest thing I’ve ever had made by a long shot. It turned out exactly like I wanted it to- all the colours totally correct and all semi-gloss and really genuinely lovely. Hats off to VanPrint for the amazing job they did. Now if only I had a place to put it, haha!

I’m all out for summer for the next month and a half, so I’ll be looking to pick up some work to fill in the gap. I’m also entering something in this year’s Wrap Project! Some of the pieces from last year look totally amazing, so I hope I can come up with something equally as spectacular.

I’m also off to New York at the end of June, to visit some amazing art directors and really talented illustrators, which as you can imagine I’m totally stoked for. Look for some more pieces to emerge in the next month and a half as I prepare!

10/10, really excellent linework and amazing use of blacks to convey both night time and drama. And some frankly phenomenal panels, and characterization and everything. And great use of comedic timing to break up the tension in a character-appropriate kind of way.

So incredibly pleased with myself for this one. I’m loving all the colour improvements I’ve made in the past two semesters- limited colour schemes have quickly become my favourite thing! This was for my Anatomy class (which was amazing by the way- learned so much), but I’ll be pleased to have it as a poster for my wall. Into the portfolio it goes!

‘Pes’ is latin for ‘foot’.
